Having grown up through the start of the videogame era, this game strikes a chord with me. Did you enjoy games from the Zelda and Final Fantasy series? I did. What if you could play a game that rolls all of them together into a big ball of deliciousness? I’d love it. Well, that’s what Shiro Games has done with their new title Evoland, and as you may have guessed from the name, it’s a game that evolves as you progress.
I don’t know about you but one of my favorite things to do in any game is open chests, and this game has made opening chests a real treat. When you open a chest the game evolves! The game ushers you into an action-adventure world that appears to be straight out of the 1980’s. You will fight monsters and find treasure chests, as you accomplish these tasks the game will evolve around you, adding advanced graphics and changing the play style. You will progress from an 8-bit top down adventure to a full 3D environment. Evoland isn’t just your straight forward hack and slash adventure either; there are many puzzles to solve and enjoy, like pushing blocks and chopping that one suspicious looking tree to find hidden paths and the road to end this magnificent journey.
Evoland is a super cool looking game. Taking a game and making the players relive the action-adventure games of the past as they progress, gives all the veteran gamers a glimpse back at some classics while introducing new gamers to some of the great games of the past. So if you really enjoy a good action adventure game and want to know what got all of us hooked to begin with, this is definitely a title to cast a vote for. This game will be an epic tale of not only the fun but also the advancements the gaming industry has accomplished over the years.
- Play through the history of action-adventure video games
- Discover many evolutions, from old school 2D action/adventure to active time battles and full 3D action
- Revisit the starting area rendered in full 3D or explore the overworld with your own airship!
- And have fun with the dungeons, puzzles, a heap of secrets to uncover, and hundreds of achievements and stars to collect
Evoland is a great game for many reasons but the gamer in me is keen to see this epic tale come to life and be readily available to the gaming community. So if you want to relive some amazing gaming moments from the rise of the action/adventure genre head over to Steam Greenlight and vote for Evoland.
